NCCS performs The Lion King Jr.

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School’s all-school musical “The Lion King Jr.” ran for four sold-out performances from Nov. 18 through Nov. 20, 2021. Under the direction of music teacher Janie Villella-Sharon, the musical included every student in the school from grades PreK-3 through eighth grade.

Main characters were performed by the following students: Olivia Cole (Rafiki), Dylan Ott (Mufasa), Jenna Fryberger (Sarabi), Henry Drab (Zazu), Carilene Sliwa (Scar), Sophia Burrows (young Simba), McKenna Crawford (young Nala), Khloe Munson (Sarafina and featured dancer), Mikaela Sciarrino (Shenzi), Maggie Mikula (Banzai), Isabella Czekanski (Ed), Hanna Powell (Timon), Julia Askar (Pumbaa), Landon Trippi (Simba) and Isabella Buckley (Nala).

Originally slated for March 2020, “The Lion King Jr.” was rescheduled twice due to the pandemic. Ms. Villella-Sharon and her students were thrilled to perform it this year. She wishes to thank the Cardinal Mindszenty High School Classes of 1976 and 1977, as well as the Kosciuszko Club and all of NCCS’ generous angel donors for their generous support of the musical.

Ms. Villella-Sharon is already looking forward to NCCS’ next musical, which will most likely be performed this spring. Watch for more details at www.nccschool.us or NCCS’ Facebook page. Exciting things are happening at Northern Chautauqua Catholic School!
